Before / after

Manual DTF workflow eats your day.

Before Photoshop

  • Every design cut out with the magic wand
  • Pixel-by-pixel knockout
  • Manual placement on a 3-meter sheet
  • Quantities calculated by hand
  • ~3 hours for 20 designs

With KONEST

  • Import design → wizard handles the cutout automatically
  • 1-click knockout (magic eraser)
  • Auto-nesting (max designs, min paper)
  • « Max for 3 m » button → quantity calculated instantly
  • ~15 minutes for the same 20 designs

Features

Everything you need, and nothing else.

Import wizard

Drag a PNG from Pinterest or File Explorer. Auto cutout, magic eraser to remove the background (contiguous or not), crop to alpha bbox. Zero Photoshop.

Smart nesting

BLF placement engine with rotation, concavity tucking, machine-adaptive calibration. Optimizes paper use up to 95% efficiency.

Auto-fill by length

Dedicating 3m of sheet to one design? Click « ↻ Max », type the length, and the max quantity is calculated instantly. No more guessing.

Saved dimensions

The Luffy you print every week at 20 × 25 cm? Saved on the design. All future placements start with the right dims, no retyping.

Bonus stock in the gaps

After generation, ghost slots appear in empty zones — bonus copies of designs already on the sheet. Click to accept, drag from the library to swap. Zero waste, sellable stock.

Shortcuts + global undo

Ctrl+S, Ctrl+Z, Ctrl+Y, Delete, Ctrl+A in the library, Ctrl+O to reopen a .nest. UX built for 8h/day workshop use.

Getting started

Ship your first sheet in 5 steps.

  1. 01

    Import a design

Drag a PNG from File Explorer or click « + Import design ». The wizard opens: remove the background with the magic eraser, crop, save to the catalog.

  2. 02

    Add it to your sheet

In the right panel (your library), drag the design to the left panel or click « + Add selection ». Type the quantity and dimensions directly.

  3. 03

    Configure the sheet

Top-right panel: pick the width (28 cm or 58 cm based on your printer), DPI (150 is enough for most cases), and gap between designs (5 mm default).

  4. 04

    Optional: « ↻ Max »

For one design alone over a given length (e.g. 3m of the same silhouette), click « ↻ Max », type the length, and the count applies.

  5. 05

    Generate and print

« GENERATE » button at the bottom. While nesting (a few seconds to 2 minutes depending on size), the progress bar tells you where it stands. At the end you get the PNG ready to send to your DTF printer.

License activation on first boot

Three options at first launch: enter your license key, start a free 7-day trial with no commitment, or activate the 24h demo mode to test offline (useful for in-person demos at prospects).

The 3-panel interface

Built for 8h workshop use without fatigue: placements being edited on the left, live DTF sheet preview in the center with motif/sheet tabs, settings and motif library on the right with categories and live search.

Everything that defines your sheet

The Settings panel centralizes all output technicals: sheet width, gap between motifs, DPI resolution, export format, rotation policy. Saved in your .nest file and restored on reopen.

Sheet width matched to your printer

Pick 30 cm for small workshop DTF printers, 60 cm for large production machines. KONEST optimizes nesting under this constraint: no overflow, max designs per sheet.

Gap between motifs (cut margin)

The gap in millimeters between motifs. Typically 5 mm — the margin needed to separate transfers by hand without tearing. Adjustable from 0 to 50 mm depending on your cutting technique.

Resolution matched to your use case

120 DPI for quick drafts (lighter file), 150 DPI for standard workshop production, 200-300 DPI for highly detailed designs or premium prints. Higher DPI = sharper output but heavier file.

Output format + rotation policy

Three formats: transparent PNG (universal), TIFF RGB with alpha (for RIPs that want TIFF), CMYK TIFF with 5-channel alpha (for pro RIPs that demand CMYK). Rotation policy lets the nester rotate motifs to densify — disable for designs with text.

Two import modes

Single motif via the import wizard (with auto background removal, cropping, magic eraser), or full folder bulk import for 50+ motifs at once. Bulk auto-creates categories from subfolder names.

The import wizard fullscreen

Photoshop-style toolbar on the left, motif preview center with zoom (Ctrl+wheel or Alt+wheel), context-aware options on the right. Cutout and crop in less than a minute — no more Photoshop.

The 5 essential tools

Eyedropper to identify a color, magic eraser with/without contiguous to wipe the background in 1 click, classic eraser for manual touch-ups, manual rectangle crop, and hand tool (space + drag) to pan zoomed view. All keyboard-accessible (P, W, E, C, H).

Always crop after import

A pro habit: after cutout, crop tight to content. Removes excess transparent space and lets the nester place your motif without empty bbox. Auto-fit to alpha bbox in 1 click, or adjustable manual rectangle.

Organized library

Categories auto-created from source folders (Naruto, JJK, etc.). Live search via `/` shortcut filters by name OR category. Grid view (large icons) or compact list. Multi-selection like Windows Explorer (Ctrl+click, Shift+click, marquee).

Precise add with dimensions

Add a motif to your sheet with exact dimensions (width/height in cm, ratio locked), quantity, and per-motif rotation toggle. Favorite dimensions can be saved per motif — a Luffy 25×30 never gets retyped.

Smooth drag & drop

Drag a motif from the library straight onto the sheet to add it, or onto an existing slot to replace it in place. Ultra-fast workflow for repeat orders where you only swap 1 or 2 motifs.

Output under your control

Pick the location and filename of your output via native Windows dialog (not browser). KONEST defaults to `output/batch_<date>.png` so nothing gets overwritten. You can also type the path directly.

Interactive preview after generation

Once the sheet is generated, the Sheet tab shows the result in interactive preview. Zoom, scroll, and click on a placed motif to edit it in place — quantity, dimensions, position. Regeneration is instant.

All generation info at a glance

The bottom bar after generation: elapsed time in seconds, sheet dimensions (width × height in cm), motifs placed, and paper efficiency percentage. Lets you compare orders and optimize the next ones.

Auto-fill empty zones

KONEST detects empty zones after generation and proposes bonus copies of motifs already placed to fill them. Sellable extra stock at no paper or ink cost. Click to accept, drag to swap, right-click to dismiss.

Download

Available for Windows.

Standard Windows installer with a "Next > Next" wizard. Double-click, pick the folder, done. Desktop shortcut + Start menu + uninstaller in Control Panel — like any Windows app.

Download version 0.5.2

On first launch, Windows will show a blue warning screen.

It's normal and harmless — the beta isn't code-signed yet. Every indie Windows app goes through this. Here are the 2 clicks to install:

  1. 1 On the « Windows protected your PC » screen, click the « More info » link
  2. 2 A new button appears at the bottom → click « Run anyway »

The installer then runs normally ("Next > Next" wizard). This confirmation is asked once, never again on later launches of KONEST.

Requirements

  • Windows 10 22H2+ or Windows 11
  • WebView2 Runtime — already present on up-to-date Windows
  • ~250 MB disk space (55 MB installer + unpacked dependencies)
  • 4 GB RAM minimum, 8 GB recommended for large batches (> 30 designs)
  • Vulkan GPU (optional) for the Real-ESRGAN upscaler — CPU fallback otherwise

Useful details

  1. The installer defaults to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\KONEST. Pick another folder if you prefer.
  2. Check « Create a desktop shortcut » in the wizard for direct access. Otherwise it lives in the Start menu only.
  3. If the KONEST window doesn't open after install, make sure WebView2 Runtime is installed (default on up-to-date Windows).
  4. To uninstall: Control Panel → Programs → KONEST → Uninstall. Clean, like any other Windows app.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does it work on Mac / Linux?

No, Windows only for now. The binary uses WebView2 (Edge) for the native window. A Mac/Linux port is on the table but not a priority.

Where are my designs stored?

In a motifs/ folder created next to the executable, with the SQLite DB and generated files (output/). Nothing leaves your machine — 100% local.

Can I save multiple sheets in progress?

Yes: File > Save creates a .nest file (JSON) you can reopen later. Useful for prepping a recurring order once and reusing it every cycle.

Does nesting use a lot of resources?

On a modern i3, 30 designs over 3m = 2-5 minutes. On a Ryzen 7, the same takes ~30-60s. The app stays responsive (progress bar + cancel button).

Why does Windows SmartScreen show a warning?

Because the beta isn't code-signed yet. It's harmless: click "More info" then "Run anyway". Code signing will be added at commercial launch.

Is the source code public?

Not yet. Only release binaries are public (on the konest-releases repo). At commercial SaaS launch, the licensing model will be clarified.

I found a bug, how do I report it?

Reply to the message that shared the link, or DM directly. A dedicated feedback page will be added later — for the internal beta we keep it informal.
